HOW DO I...

Appointments

An appointment system is in operation at both surgeries. Appointments can be arranged either by telephone or by calling into the surgery. You may see any doctor in the practice although it is better to see one doctor consistently for each illness. Urgent cases will always be accommodated. These appointments are for sudden illnesses that require treatment the same day. It would be helpful if you could inform the surgery in advance if you are unable to keep an appointment.

Home Visits

Patients who are housebound or are too ill to travel to the surgery should request a house visit. Should your illness prevent you from attending the surgery we would be grateful if you could telephone the surgery before 10.00am to enable the doctor to plan his rounds. Requests for home visits are vetted so that the doctor can attend cases according to their urgency. The reception staff will ask you to describe your symptoms.

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctorås discretion to those patients who require long-term treatment. Please allow 24 hours before collection and make allowances for weekends and public holidays. Repeat prescriptions can be ordered by placing your request in the box at reception or, alternatively, you may post your request to the surgery enclosing a stamped, addressed envelope. We regret we are unable to accept telephone requests for repeat prescriptions.

New Patients

Patients wishing to join the practice are asked to complete a questionnaire and arrange an appointment with the practice nurse before fully registering with the practice. This enables the practice to assess your health needs and provides us with a brief background on your medical history. It could take several months for your case notes to reach us.

Complaints Procedure

We always try to provide the best service possible, but there may be times when you feel this has not happened. If you have a complaint or concern about the service you have received from the practice, please let us know. If you wish to make a complaint please telephone or write to Mrs M Oyar our practice manager. She will explain the complaints procedure and will make sure your concerns are dealt with properly.

Comments and Suggestions

We are happy to accept and consider comments and suggestions from outpatients. Please present your views in writing, addressed to the practice manager.
